Rapper Radric Davis, known as Gucci Mane, was born in Birmingham, Alabama then moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he as nine years old. At 14, he began rapping and released his first single in 2001. Searching for a distribution deal in New York City brought about no luck.
So, he returned home and joined forces with Big Cat Records. He was then able to secure a distribution deal with Tommy Boy Records and prepared for his debut album, Trap House. His two albums, Trap House and Hard to Kill, received much commercial success. In 2009, Gucci Mane signed to Warner Bros. Records.
