Marriage and Political Career
John married Cindy Hensley in 1980, who was already a millionaire in her own right through her successful business ventures. In 2000 she inherited the Hensley brewing business, making her fortune over $100 million. Cindy has been a staunch supporter of her husband’s political career since it began. In 1981 he was elected to the House of Representatives as a Republican.
After six years in the House of Representatives he was elected the Senator of Arizona in 1987. Over the years he become one of the most powerful Republican Senators. In 2004 he ran for President, though the Republicans selected incumbent George W Bush to successfully run for a second term in the White House. In 2008 John McCain was the Republican nomination for President but he was defeated by Barrack Obama.
